Karma

Karma is a Sanskrit word, “Kri” means ‘action’ or ‘deed’. Any action guided through the mind or physical action is called Karma. As Sir NEWTON’s law puts it every action produces its reaction or result which is known as Karma. Hence Karma includes the action and its Cause as an irresistible rule.

The law governing Karma is nothing like a chance or an accident. The chances and accidents are the reality of some causes which we may not be aware of beforehand. What appears to be accidental or providential to a common man is quite a natural and unavoidable incident from the point of an Astrologer. Hence, chances, luck, misfortunes, and unexpected events are governed absolutely by the law of Causation of Karma. The Supreme power of this Universe God is neither partial nor unjust to any living creatures including mankind, and everything happens according to one’s action in the previous birth. Man is completely a doll in the hands of certain superficial agencies. Karma and reincarnation are like a seed growing into a tree which bears fruits yielding seeds which in turn produce more trees in a cyclic effect. The seed is compared to the Karma while its growth is that of a tree.

The plant that springs out depends on the seed sown in the soil.

Every human creates his own destiny and should realise that it is because of his own Karma, that he suffers. The doctrine of Karma alone explains and reconciles man to the terrible and apparent injustice he faces in his life. The knowledge prevents him from cursing life or fellow beings or God. Only the divine of Karma can explain why people suffer, although they might not have done anything wrong in this life, and they may curse their stars as bad and that they do not deserve any kind of trouble. Most of us hesitate to believe that the planets do not cause luck or ill luck. Those trends of life are the cause of our karma which is determined by the will of God. Without our previous Karma, God who loves everybody is just and impartial and never distinguishes between his children. God is supposed to be the purest form of rain helping every seed to grow. Due to the inherent potency of the seeds, some thrive while some die out. Astrology explains what Karma one should have done in the previous birth and what he should experience in this birth and its time.

Natal astrology as propounded by the ancient stages is a convincing science, having its foundations in Karma theory which can be read by an astrologer. As everything is found in the horoscope/natal chart, astrology clearly shows that man is postulated as the subject of a certain destiny and human endeavour as the fulfilment of fate.

There are three different types of Karma defined prarabdha, sanchita, and kriyamana or agami. While Prarabdha karma is experienced during the currency of life, a portion of sanchita karma – a leftover or carryover from our past birth – is to be suffered with the proposed accumulation of those that come hereafter – during the days to come. In other words, it can be said that man is both a slave of the effects of his past deeds and is a free agent as regards his deeds which are in no way directed to thwart, arrest, alter or modify in any way or remould the effects of his past Karma. The past, the present and the future are all recorded and predestined to emulate in this birth. The stars and the planets in their course denote our destinies, not only those fulfilled in the past but also those lying stored up in front of us in the future.

Astrology will clearly indicate that Destiny cannot be altered as its finest definition is not fully understood by the general public. Karma is that which is already done in the previous birth while destiny includes all actions done in that birth and the results of which are to be enjoyed. One’s destiny may force him to do some remedies or Shanthi and give complete protection by removing the anticipated evil or only to an insignificant extent or it may prevent one from performing any Shanthi or attempt at remedies at all. Destiny ultimately gives the result that one has surely to experience, without any alternatives forcing the people to submit to fate.

Karma can be divided broadly into three kinds. “DHRUDA KARMA”, “DHRUDA ADHRUDA KARMA”, AND “ADHRUDA KARMA”.

Dhruda Karma means that one has committed an inexcusable mistake or crime in the previous birth, like murder, denying food and shelter to the aged parents, cheating the minor brothers during partition, denying wages to the poor class helpless servants, cheating, ingratitude, etc., Such people cannot ward off their evil malefic results by performing any Shanthi or remedial measures as the results will be negligent, compelling them to accept the severe punishment due.

Dhruda Adhruda Karma means that one would have committed excusable mistakes in the previous birth. This is something like committing some mistakes for the sake of others. In such persons’ horoscopes, either the Lagna/Ascendant or Moon or Maha Dasa (Dasa) Lord or Anthar Dasa (Bukthi) lord will receive favourable aspects from either Jupiter or Lord of the 9th or both. The crime committed is so simple that he can be excused on his humble application or simple remedial measures.

The third one is Adhruda karma. Here the crime committed may be negligible. It might have ended only in evil thought and not put into action. The native would have thought about doing crime or wrongful acts but would never have attempted it. Such evil thoughts can be classified as Adhruda Karma. In such a person’s horoscope, Jupiter or Lord of the 9th will be in the Ascendant/Lagna or conjoined with Moon or the lord of the Maha Dasa (Dasa) or Anthar Dasa (Bukthi). Such people will enjoy life though they do not perform any Shanthi or attempt any remedial measures.

As performing homam rituals, remedial measures, Shanthi etc., are always considered to be a virtue, it will give its due share of results to the performer. Hence the astrologer suggests the querist to offer prayers to God or do prescribed Homas as per sastras or contributions for a good cause.

Astrology advises all to be good, to do Shanthi and remedial action as a guard against foreseen eventualities and to enjoy life with absolute peace of mind.
